Opening of Intersport Kuhn

On November 2nd, opened in Offenburg (Germany) the new Intersport Kuhn: on a sales area of 3,500 m² sports fashion, equipment and accessories are presented with a concept that is full of details and an own dynamic. In a cooperation with the managing directors Metz-Weinzierl and Kuhn, our design department has planned and developed the complete interior, furniture and gimmicks. The sophisticated concept has been realised by our shop fitting team. Near by the entry, the customers come across an interactive orientation system: all areas of the sports house are symbolised by icons. When pushing the “running” button for example, the corresponding area will light up on the drafted way through the store. The way which guides through the hall in many linked semi-circles symbolises the association of sports and movement: endless, round, dynamic and fast. The view from above on the way builds an organic design element which is also found on the out facade of the sports house and even on the corporate letter head and bags.

Movement and dynamic

The motives of movement and dynamic are the central theme of the complete store. For example, slim and high wooden ribs that seam the way through the store on the one hand are an abstract from of a channel, a pull effect, and on the other hand are the carriers of spots and merchandising systems. Or in the chill out area: the guests are invited to relax underneath a huge turbine-like funnel and watch films that are shown inside the funnel by a back projection. A similar construction is the circle roof of the event area where performances, autograph sessions etc. will take place.

Highlights and attractions

So called highlight walls frame the store and show a lot of funny details. On the running wall you can see red lacquered, upside down mens’ shoes and highheels that serve as trays for sport shoes. On the team sports wall a complete soccer team greets the customers and in the hiking area the guests wander through huge blades of grass and stones. Even the Odlo soft-shop is well integrated into the conclusive concept: Like the other highlight walls as well, this area also has a coloured back wall – in Odlo blue of course – and shows the outline of a pregnant motive (like the Odlo logotype). Another attraction are the various simulation areas. There is, for example, a treadmill for five or six persons where you are running through a quite real forest. The Intersport Kuhn team has spared no efforts: Equipped with a camera, they have filmed running courses in the region of Offenburg and let them play on the video screen of the treadmill.

We wish the Intersport Kuhn Team lots of success and fun with the new store!
